Cieszyn: tourist information

Since December 2007 Poland is a member of Schengen, which means that the Polish visa is valid for all the other Schengen member-countries. As regards the free flow of persons, the citizens of European Economic Area and Switzerland do not need a visa to travel to Poland, regardless of the length of the stay. The citizens of Belarus, Ukraine and Russia are covered with the visa obligation from 1st October 2003, which is a result of Poland’s membership in the EU structures from 1st May 2004. Due to the said reasons, the stay in Cieszyn and commuting between the Polish Cieszyn and the Czech Cieszyn requires only a valid personal ID (for the citizens of the European Union) or a valid passport (for citizens of other countries). A passport is required for animals taken with you, on condition that the hotels agree to that.
On the territory of Poland it is forbidden to own the so-called soft drugs or other ‘weed’.
Smoking is only allowed in the designated places. You have to remember that in some cities there is a ban on smoking on bus and tram stops. It is also forbidden to walk around Cieszyn with a bottle of alcohol opened.
